Artist statement

My painting has evolved over the years from a literal interpretation of the natural world around me to abstract impressions of the environment around me. The driving force behind my work is a love of the natural world. When I interpret the environment, I think about the effect of human interference, which leads me to incorporate lifeforms on the verge of extinction into many of my paintings.  I am also deeply immersed in color. The patterns I create have some inner dimension for me that allows my expression.
